COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Medical and Health Sciences is a 144-credit-point, three-year program delivered at the Wollongong campus that provides students with a strong foundation in the scientific understanding of human health, structure, and function. The degree is structured over three years, with each year consisting of 48 credit points, allowing a gradual and systematic development of knowledge and skills in medical and health sciences. In the first year, students study core science subjects that introduce essential concepts in anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry, along with foundational knowledge in biology and health-related sciences. This stage builds the scientific base needed for more advanced study. In the second year, students expand their understanding of human health and biological systems while beginning to explore specialised areas such as neuroscience, nutrition, psychology, biotechnology, chemistry, and public health through elective subjects. In the third year, students further deepen their expertise and focus on more advanced topics in medical and health sciences, while also having opportunities to tailor their studies according to their interests and career goals. The program emphasises scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and practical application of knowledge to real-world health issues. It prepares graduates for a wide range of career pathways, including roles in health science industries, laboratory and biomedical research, public health organisations, and further postgraduate study in medicine, allied health, or research-based fields.
