COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws (Direct Entry) is a 180-credit-point program designed to provide students with a complete and structured legal education that prepares them for professional legal practice. The degree is organised over four years and combines 114 credit points of core legal subjects with 66 credit points of electives, allowing both a strong foundation in law and flexibility to explore specialised areas. In the first year, students complete 48 credit points of foundational subjects that introduce key areas of law, legal reasoning, and the social, ethical, and institutional contexts in which legal systems operate. The second year continues with another 48 credit points of core studies, building deeper understanding of legal principles while developing essential skills such as legal research, analysis, and communication. In the third year, students complete 54 credit points, including more advanced core subjects and elective options, allowing them to begin focusing on specific legal interests such as commercial law, criminal law, or public law. The final year consists of 30 credit points, focusing on advanced legal study and completion of remaining electives or specialised subjects that consolidate professional readiness. Throughout the degree, students develop practical skills in advocacy, negotiation, drafting, and legal problem-solving. The program prepares graduates for careers in legal practice, government, corporate law, policy development, and other professions requiring strong analytical and regulatory expertise.
