COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of International Studies with a major in International Relations is a 144-credit-point program designed to prepare students to understand and engage with global political systems, international cooperation, and major world challenges. The degree is structured over three years, with each year consisting of 48 credit points that progressively build knowledge of global politics, international affairs, diplomacy, and contemporary world issues. In the first year, students develop foundational understanding of international studies, including global political systems, history, culture, and key concepts in international relations. In the second year, students explore more advanced topics such as international security, conflict management, global governance, foreign policy, and the role of international organisations in addressing global challenges like war, inequality, and climate change. The third year focuses on deeper analytical and applied study of international relations, encouraging students to critically evaluate global issues and policy responses. As part of the degree, students complete a 48-credit-point major in International Relations, where they study core subjects in global politics, diplomacy, international security, conflict resolution, and global political economy. The program also develops practical skills through activities such as Model United Nations simulations, where students practice negotiation, diplomacy, and policy development. Graduates are well prepared for careers in government, foreign affairs, international organisations, non-government organisations, policy analysis, diplomacy, and global advocacy roles focused on addressing international challenges and promoting cooperation between nations.
