COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of International Studies with a major in International History is a 144-credit-point program designed to help students understand global political, social, and cultural developments through historical analysis. The degree is structured over three years, with each year consisting of 48 credit points that progressively build knowledge of international systems, world history, diplomacy, and global change. In the first year, students develop foundational understanding of international studies, including global politics, cultural interactions, historical developments, and the evolution of international systems. During the second year, students explore more advanced topics related to world conflicts, political ideologies, empires, international diplomacy, and the historical forces that have shaped modern societies and global relationships. The third year focuses on specialised and critical study of international historical issues, encouraging students to analyse how historical events continue to influence current global challenges, international cooperation, and geopolitical tensions. As part of the degree, students complete a 48-credit-point major in International History, examining themes such as the rise and fall of states and empires, conflict and diplomacy, religion and politics, global economic and social networks, and historical responses to international crises. The program develops strong analytical, research, communication, and critical thinking skills, preparing graduates for careers in government, diplomacy, international organisations, education, journalism, research, policy analysis, and cultural or historical institutions dealing with global affairs.
