COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Dean’s Scholar) with a major in Web Design and Development is a 144-credit-point program designed for high-achieving students who want to develop advanced technical and creative skills in modern web technologies and digital application development. The degree is structured over three years, beginning with a 48-credit-point first year that builds strong foundational knowledge in programming with Python, cybersecurity fundamentals, system analysis, database management systems, object-oriented programming, networking, and web technologies. Students also complete an elective subject that allows exploration of additional IT or interdisciplinary interests. In the second year, students complete 48 credit points of advanced core subjects, including IT project management, human-computer interaction, emerging information technologies, management information systems, knowledge engineering, and generative AI, alongside elective or major study options. The third year focuses on advanced software development methodologies, a year-long capstone project, and specialised Web Design and Development major subjects covering interface design, user experience, web application development, accessibility, information architecture, and digital solutions. Students also complete an advanced Dean’s Scholar subject from areas such as enterprise systems integration, information design, healthcare computing, or supply chain technologies. The program combines technical expertise with innovation, problem-solving, and professional practice, preparing graduates for careers in web development, UI/UX design, software engineering, digital product development, and interactive media industries, while also encouraging progression into honours and research pathways.
