COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology at the Wollongong campus is a 144-credit-point program designed to prepare students for careers in developing, managing, and supporting modern computer systems, applications, and digital infrastructure. The degree is structured over three years, beginning with a 48-credit-point first year that introduces core concepts in programming, problem-solving, data management, networking, system analysis, and web technologies. These foundational studies provide essential technical and analytical skills for further IT learning. In the second year, students complete another 48 credit points, where they build on foundational knowledge with more advanced topics such as software development, database systems, cybersecurity, information systems analysis and design, and communication networks. The third year also consists of 48 credit points and focuses on applying IT knowledge to real-world problems through advanced study in areas such as system integration, project management, and professional IT practice. In addition, students complete 24 credit points of major studies at the Wollongong campus, allowing them to specialise in a specific area of information technology aligned with their career interests. The program emphasises practical, industry-relevant learning through projects and applied tasks that develop technical competence, teamwork, and communication skills. Graduates are well prepared for careers in software development, IT support, systems analysis, cybersecurity, database administration, and network management, contributing to the design and maintenance of efficient and secure digital systems across industries.
