COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology with a major in Web Design and Development at the Wollongong campus is a 144-credit-point program designed to prepare students for careers in modern web technologies, digital application development, and user experience design. The degree is structured over three years, with each year consisting of 48 credit points that progressively build technical, analytical, and creative skills in information technology and web development. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in programming, databases, networking, cybersecurity, system analysis, and web technologies, providing the essential skills required for further IT study. During the second year, students expand their expertise through subjects focused on software development, information systems, project management, user interaction, and emerging technologies, while beginning to specialise in web-related areas. The third year focuses on advanced application of web development principles through specialised major studies and industry-relevant projects. Students complete 24 credit points in the Web Design and Development major, studying areas such as web programming, interface design, user experience, accessibility, information architecture, responsive design, and search engine optimisation. The program also includes collaborative and practical learning experiences, including a final-year capstone project where students apply their skills to real-world digital challenges. Graduates are well prepared for careers in web development, UI/UX design, digital media, front-end and back-end programming, and online application development across a wide range of industries and organisations.
