COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology with a major in Network Design and Management at the Wollongong campus is a 144-credit-point program designed to prepare students for careers in network engineering, IT infrastructure management, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. The degree is structured over three years, beginning with a 48-credit-point first year that introduces core concepts in programming, system analysis, networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, database management, and web technologies. These foundational subjects develop essential technical and analytical skills required for advanced study in information technology. In the second year, students complete another 48 credit points focused on more advanced IT topics such as human-computer interaction, IT project management, emerging technologies, information systems, and enterprise computing. The third year also consists of 48 credit points and focuses on advanced application of networking and IT principles through professional practice subjects, technical electives, and industry-relevant projects. Students also complete 24 credit points of major studies in Network Design and Management, where they develop specialised expertise in network architecture, systems administration, cloud technologies, enterprise networking, and information security. The program emphasises practical learning and problem-solving through collaborative projects and applied technical work. Students gain experience using industry-standard technologies and platforms that support modern digital communication and business operations. Graduates are well prepared for careers in network administration, cybersecurity, cloud systems management, IT support, and enterprise infrastructure services across government, business, and technology sectors globally.
