COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Environmental Science (Honours) (Wildlife and Conservation major) is a 192-credit-point program designed to prepare students for careers focused on biodiversity protection, ecosystem management, and wildlife conservation. The degree begins with a 48-credit-point first year that provides a strong foundation in core environmental science subjects such as biology, chemistry, earth systems, ecology, and environmental data analysis. These foundational studies develop essential scientific understanding and analytical skills required for advanced environmental and conservation learning. From the second year onwards, students complete a 144-credit-point Wildlife and Conservation major, where they study key areas including ecology, conservation biology, wildlife management, evolutionary physiology, and the functioning of marine and terrestrial ecosystems. The program focuses on understanding biodiversity, species interactions, and the impacts of human activities on natural environments, with the aim of developing strategies to protect and restore ecosystems. Students gain extensive practical experience through fieldwork, laboratory studies, and research projects conducted in diverse environments, including coastal, marine, and inland ecosystems. This hands-on approach builds skills in species monitoring, ecological assessment, environmental data collection, and conservation planning. The program also emphasises sustainable management of natural resources and habitat restoration. Graduates are well prepared for careers in wildlife conservation, environmental consulting, ecology, research organisations, government agencies, and conservation management, contributing to global efforts to protect biodiversity and maintain healthy ecosystems.
