COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical Engineering major) is a 192-credit-point program designed to prepare students for professional careers in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems across a wide range of industries. The degree begins with a 48-credit-point first year that provides a strong foundation in core engineering principles such as mathematics, physics, engineering design, programming, and problem-solving skills. These foundational subjects build the essential knowledge required for advanced study in mechanical engineering. From the second year onwards, students complete a 144-credit-point Mechanical Engineering major, where they study key areas such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, dynamics, machine design, materials science, and manufacturing processes. The program focuses on developing the ability to design efficient, safe, and innovative mechanical systems used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. Students also explore sustainable engineering practices, including renewable energy systems and environmentally responsible design solutions. The course includes hands-on learning through laboratory work, simulations, engineering design projects, and real-world problem-solving activities that strengthen technical, analytical, and teamwork skills. Delivered by academic staff with internationally recognised research expertise, the program ensures students are exposed to modern engineering technologies and practices. Graduates are well prepared for careers in mechanical design, manufacturing, energy systems, robotics, automotive industries, aerospace, and other global engineering sectors.
