COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Environmental Engineering major) is a 192-credit-point program designed to prepare students to address environmental challenges through sustainable engineering solutions. The degree begins with a 48-credit-point first year that provides a strong foundation in core engineering principles, including mathematics, physics, engineering design, programming, and problem-solving skills. These foundational studies equip students with the essential knowledge required for advanced environmental engineering study. From the second year onwards, students complete a 144-credit-point Environmental Engineering major, where they learn to assess, design, and manage systems that reduce human impact on the natural and built environment. Key study areas include water quality engineering, air and noise pollution control, solid and hazardous waste management, environmental systems modelling, membrane science and technology, site remediation, and sustainable infrastructure design. The program focuses on developing ethical, socially responsible, and practical solutions for environmental protection and resource management. Students also gain hands-on experience through laboratory work, engineering design projects, simulations, and real-world problem-solving activities that build technical, analytical, and teamwork skills. The course is delivered by academic staff engaged in internationally recognised research, ensuring exposure to modern environmental technologies and global best practices. Graduates are well prepared for careers in environmental consulting, government agencies, regulatory authorities, sustainability organisations, and engineering firms working to create cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environments worldwide.
