COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Biomedical Engineering major) is a 192-credit-point program designed to prepare students for careers at the intersection of engineering, medicine, and biological sciences. The degree begins with a 48-credit-point first year that provides a strong foundation in core engineering principles such as mathematics, physics, engineering design, programming, and problem-solving. These foundational subjects support students in understanding both technical engineering concepts and their application to biological systems. From the second year onwards, students complete a 144-credit-point major in Biomedical Engineering, where they study advanced topics including anatomy and physiology, biomedical instrumentation, biomedical device design, sensors and actuators, biomechanics, biomaterials, tissue engineering, and artificial organs. The program also integrates modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, and intelligent systems to support innovations in healthcare and medical devices. Students gain practical experience through laboratory work, design projects, and industry-relevant problem-solving activities, helping them develop strong technical, analytical, and teamwork skills. The course places emphasis on real-world applications such as medical imaging, prosthetics, rehabilitation technologies, and healthcare system improvements. Graduates are well prepared for careers in medical device industries, hospitals, research institutions, biotechnology companies, and global healthcare organisations, contributing to advancements that improve patient care and medical technology worldwide.
