COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education (Early Years) is a 192-credit-point program designed to prepare students for professional careers as early childhood teachers working with children from birth to five years. The degree is structured over four years, with 48 credit points completed in each year, ensuring a balanced and progressive development of knowledge, teaching skills, and professional practice. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational concepts in child development, early childhood education theory, learning frameworks, and the role of educators in supporting young children’s growth. The second year builds on this foundation by focusing on curriculum design, inclusive education, pedagogy, cultural diversity, and strategies for fostering safe, engaging, and supportive learning environments. In the third year, students deepen their expertise through advanced study of early childhood teaching methods, leadership, assessment practices, early intervention, and professional engagement in education settings. The final year emphasises professional readiness through extended practical placements, applied teaching experience, and consolidation of theoretical and practical learning in real early childhood environments. Throughout the program, students develop strong communication, planning, and reflective practice skills while engaging in supervised professional experience in early learning centres. Graduates are fully prepared to work as qualified early childhood educators in childcare centres, preschools, community education services, and other early childhood settings, contributing to children’s learning, wellbeing, and transition to formal schooling.
