COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology with the Human Services major consists of 144 credit points designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of criminology, justice systems, and human service delivery. The program includes 48 credit points of core criminology subjects completed over three years, alongside the 48-credit-point Human Services major, which focuses on understanding the planning, funding, regulation, and delivery of social and community services. Students explore areas such as health, housing, youth support, aged care, social welfare, and community development while developing practical and analytical skills relevant to modern human service organisations. An additional 48 credit points of electives allow students to personalise their studies according to their interests and career goals. Elective subjects cover diverse topics including policing, racism, international crime, Indigenous Australia, behavioural science, victimology, ethics, crime prevention, digital justice, social advocacy, environmental justice, youth crime, innovative justice, human rights, and social power structures. Work-integrated learning and placement opportunities provide practical industry experience and strengthen professional skills in communication, advocacy, teamwork, policy analysis, and community engagement. Graduates are prepared for careers in government agencies, correctional services, non-profit organisations, healthcare, youth services, rehabilitation, and broader community support sectors both in Australia and internationally.
