COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology with the Environment and Society major consists of 144 credit points designed to provide students with strong foundations in criminology, environmental studies, and social justice. The course includes 48 credit points of core studies completed across three years, alongside the 48-credit-point Environment and Society major, which focuses on sustainability, environmental justice, climate change, urban planning, cultural heritage, and community resilience. Students also complete 48 credit points of electives, allowing them to tailor their degree according to their interests and career goals. Elective subjects explore a wide range of contemporary social and justice issues, including policing, racism, international crime, Indigenous Australia, global politics, behavioural science, victimology, ethics, environmental crime, social advocacy, youth justice, human rights, and power structures in society. Subjects such as “Just and Sustainable Cities?” and “Environmental Crime and Justice” connect criminology with environmental and social concerns, while courses in digital justice, media, and innovative justice systems enhance practical understanding of modern challenges. This flexible structure equips graduates with analytical, communication, policy, and advocacy skills relevant to careers in sustainability, justice, planning, policy development, community services, research, and environmental governance.
