COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence and Big Data) at the University of Wollongong is a 144-credit point degree designed to provide strong foundations in computing along with specialised knowledge in AI and data-driven technologies. The program is structured over three years of full-time study and combines core computer science subjects, core selection subjects, a capstone project, and a specialised major. Students complete 78 credit points of core subjects that build essential skills in programming, algorithms, data structures, software development, systems design, and computer science principles. These core subjects provide the technical foundation required for advanced study in artificial intelligence and big data. In addition, students complete 6 credit points of core selection subjects, allowing some flexibility to explore related computing areas. A key feature of the degree is the 12-credit point capstone subject, undertaken in the final year, where students work on a major project applying their technical knowledge to real-world computing problems, often in teams. The program also includes a 24-credit point major in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, where students study topics such as machine learning, AI foundations, data mining, big data management, and intelligent systems. This major focuses on how large-scale data can be processed and used to develop intelligent solutions for complex problems.
