COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business (Sport Marketing and Management) at the University of Wollongong is a 144-credit point undergraduate degree completed over three years of full-time study. In the first year, students complete core business foundation subjects that introduce key areas such as accounting principles, economics, marketing, management, business law, and responsible business practices. These subjects provide a strong base for understanding how organisations function and how business decisions are made across industries. In the second and third years, students specialise in the Sport Marketing and Management major, where they study how the sports industry operates and how marketing principles are applied within sporting organisations. Key areas include sports marketing, sport management, sponsorship and branding, consumer behaviour in sport, sports event management, and the relationship between sport organisations and corporate partners. Students also explore how sport is used as a commercial and social tool for engagement, branding, and audience development. The program has a strong practical focus, with opportunities for internships in sporting organisations or involvement in research projects that address real industry challenges. In the final year, students complete a capstone subject where they apply their knowledge to real-world business and sports industry problems, often working collaboratively with students from other disciplines. Alongside core and major subjects, students can choose electives or a second major or minor, allowing flexibility to tailor their studies. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for careers in sports marketing, sports administration, event management, sponsorship, and sports business roles.
