COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Information Systems at the University of Wollongong requires the completion of 144 credit points over three years of full-time study. The course is structured to build strong foundations in both business and information technology, preparing students to solve real-world organisational problems using digital solutions. A major component of the degree is 96 credit points of core subjects, which provide essential knowledge in areas such as programming, systems analysis, database management, networking, web technologies, project management, and human-computer interaction. These core subjects ensure students develop both technical IT skills and an understanding of how information systems support business operations and decision-making. In addition to the core subjects, students must complete 48 credit points of elective subjects, which allow them to specialise further or explore complementary areas within business or information technology depending on their career interests. The program also includes a rule that students cannot complete more than 60 credit points at the 100-level, ensuring that they progress into more advanced and specialised study in later years. This structure is designed to gradually move students from foundational learning to higher-level analytical and technical skills.
