COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) at the University of Wollongong is a 144-credit point undergraduate degree completed over three years of full-time study. In the first year, students complete core business foundation subjects that introduce key areas such as accounting principles, economics, marketing, management, business law, and responsible business practices. These subjects help students understand how organisations function and how business decisions are made in real workplace environments. In the second and third years, students specialise in the Human Resource Management major, where they study subjects focused on managing people within organisations. This includes recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, employee relations, remuneration and benefits, workplace health and safety, and organisational change management. Students also learn how HR systems influence employee performance, workplace culture, and overall organisational effectiveness. The program develops strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills needed to manage people effectively in diverse industries. In the final year, students complete a capstone subject where they apply their learning to real-world business challenges, often collaborating with students from other disciplines to simulate professional workplace situations. Alongside core and major subjects, students complete electives or may choose a second major or minor from business or related fields, allowing flexibility to tailor their degree. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for careers in human resource management, recruitment, employee relations, training and development, and organisational consultancy roles.
