COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts at the University of Wollongong requires a total of 144 credit points to complete the degree, which is typically structured over three years of full-time study. Students are expected to take four subjects per session (Autumn and Spring), with each session contributing 24 credit points. The course is designed in a progressive structure where 100-level subjects are introductory and usually taken in the first year, 200-level subjects build intermediate knowledge in the second year, and 300-level subjects are advanced courses completed in the final year. As part of the degree, students must choose at least one major worth 48 credit points and may select either a second major or a minor depending on their academic interest. Available majors include disciplines such as Creative Writing, English Literatures, Geography, Global Communications, History, Indigenous Studies, International Relations, Legal Studies, Performance and Theatre, Philosophy, Politics, and Sociology. Minors are worth 24 credit points and allow students to specialise further in areas like Journalism, Digital and Social Media, Marketing Communication, Game Production, Ethics, Environmental Humanities, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Modern History, Philosophy, Spanish, and more. Students who choose two majors are not required to take a minor. The remaining credit points are completed through elective subjects, which allow flexibility to study outside the core Arts disciplines, while ensuring no more than 60 credit points are taken at introductory level.
