COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Engineering (Chemical Engineering specialisation) is designed to develop advanced engineering knowledge, technical expertise, and research capability for careers in chemical, process, energy, and industrial engineering sectors. The core component includes essential professional units such as Professional Engineering Portfolio, Project Management and Engineering Practice, Risk, Reliability and Safety, and a two-part Engineering Research Project, which together build strong foundations in engineering practice, safety management, and applied research skills. The Chemical Engineering specialisation focuses on key technical areas such as advanced thermodynamics, mass transfer processes, particle technology, reaction engineering, transport phenomena, process dynamics and control, and advanced catalytic reaction engineering. Students also complete a substantial Chemical Engineering Design Project, which integrates theoretical knowledge with practical process design and industrial problem-solving skills. In addition, students choose elective units from a wide range of specialised topics including renewable energy systems, mineral processing technologies, combustion science, flow assurance, gas processing, water and wastewater engineering, energy storage systems, data science fundamentals, environmental transport processes, fossil fuel transition technologies, petroleum engineering, and renewable energy applications. This flexibility allows students to tailor their studies toward energy, environment, resources, or process industries. Overall, the curriculum combines core engineering principles, chemical process design, sustainability concepts, and research training to prepare graduates for professional roles in chemical industries, energy systems, environmental engineering, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
