COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Engineering (Automation and Robotics specialisation) is structured to provide advanced engineering knowledge, research capability, and specialised technical skills in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and control systems. The core component includes essential professional and research-focused units such as Professional Engineering Portfolio, Project Management and Engineering Practice, Risk, Reliability and Safety, and a two-part Engineering Research Project, which together build strong foundations in engineering practice, project execution, and applied research. The specialisation units focus on key areas of automation and robotics, including robot manipulators, mobile robotics, autonomous and electric vehicles, advanced robotics design, machine learning, deep learning, process instrumentation, and modern control systems. These units develop expertise in designing, analysing, and controlling intelligent robotic and automated systems used in modern industries. In addition, students choose elective units from a wide range of engineering and computing subjects, such as artificial intelligence, software engineering, Internet of Things, wireless computing, communications systems, digital system design, renewable energy, geographic information systems, and mechanical systems design. This flexibility allows students to tailor their studies toward specific career paths within automation, robotics, and related engineering fields.
