COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Applied Human Performance Science curriculum is designed to provide advanced knowledge and practical skills in sport, exercise, and human performance through a combination of conversion units, core studies, research training, and specialised electives. Students without an ESSA-accredited background in sport and exercise science may need to complete up to 24 credit points of conversion units covering topics such as exercise as medicine, high performance sport, motor development, lifelong physical activity, and exercise science practicum. The core component includes subjects focused on exploring the limits of human performance, strength and conditioning, skill development, professional collaboration, practical applications of performance science, and innovation in human performance settings. Students also complete either research methods or data analysis training to strengthen scientific and analytical skills. In the coursework-only pathway, students study areas such as nutrition for human performance, evidence-based performance guidelines, healthcare leadership, data storytelling, and contemporary issues in human performance. Students choosing the coursework and dissertation pathway undertake a structured research project including a literature review, research proposal, and multi-stage sport science research project under supervision. Additional research or data analysis units support this pathway. Overall, the curriculum combines exercise physiology, performance psychology, movement science, technology, analytics, nutrition, and applied research to prepare graduates for professional roles in sport performance, exercise science, rehabilitation, and human performance industries.
