COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sports Science course is structured across three levels to develop students’ understanding of human movement, exercise performance, athlete preparation, and sport science practice. In Level 1, students complete core foundation units including ANHB1102 Human Biology II: Being Human (6 points), which explores human biological systems, PHYL1001 Physiology – How Your Body Works (6 points), focusing on body function and physical responses, SSEH1101 The Musculoskeletal System and Movement (6 points), which examines bones, muscles, and movement mechanics, SSEH1102 Applied Anatomy and Athletic Performance (6 points), linking anatomy to sport performance, and SSEH1103 Physical Fitness and Health (6 points), which introduces principles of health and fitness assessment. Students who do not meet mathematics prerequisites may also complete MATH1720 Mathematics Fundamentals (6 points). In Level 2, the course advances into applied sport and exercise science through SSEH2201 Exercise Prescription and Delivery (6 points), SSEH2240 Motor Learning and Control (6 points), SSEH2250 Biomechanics in Sport and Exercise (6 points), and SSEH2260 Exercise Physiology (6 points), developing technical and scientific understanding of physical performance and training. In Level 3, students focus on professional and high-performance applications through SSEH3552 Coaching and Athlete Development (6 points), SSEH3554 Applied Sports Science and High Performance Sport (6 points), and SSEH3555 Motor Development: Principles to Teaching in Practice (6 points). This structure prepares graduates for careers in sport performance, coaching, fitness, and exercise science professions.
