COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure in Exercise and Sports Science is designed to progressively build knowledge and practical skills in human biology, movement science, and athletic performance. At Level 1, students complete core units including Human Biology II: Being Human, Physiology – How Your Body Works, The Musculoskeletal System and Movement, Applied Anatomy and Athletic Performance, and Physical Fitness and Health. These units provide a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and the principles of human movement. Students who do not meet mathematics prerequisites are required to complete Mathematics Fundamentals to support their analytical skills. At Level 2, the focus shifts to applied sport and exercise science through units such as Exercise Prescription and Delivery, Motor Learning and Control, Biomechanics in Sport and Exercise, Exercise Physiology, Psychology of Motivation, Applied Nutrition for Sport, Exercise and Health, and Foundations of Work Integrated Learning. These subjects develop practical skills in training design, performance analysis, nutrition, and behavioural aspects of exercise, along with industry exposure. Level 3 provides advanced study in professional practice and applied sports science, including Promoting Lifelong Physical Activity, Coaching and Athlete Development, Exercise as Medicine, Applied Sports Science and High Performance Sport, and Motor Development. Overall, the course prepares graduates for careers in exercise science, sports performance, coaching, rehabilitation, and health promotion.
