COURSE CURRICULUM

The Molecular Life Sciences course structure is designed to provide students with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, environmental science, and biotechnology through progressive levels of study. At Level 1, students develop essential scientific knowledge through core units such as Introductory Cellular Biochemistry, Frontiers in Biology, Chemistry—Properties and Energetics, and Molecular Biology of the Cell, alongside studies in science, statistics, and data analysis. Bridging units in chemistry and mathematics are available for students who require additional preparation for advanced scientific coursework. At Level 2, students expand their understanding of molecular and environmental sciences through units including Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Cell, Biochemical Regulation of Cell Function, Molecular Genetics, Soil Science, Plants in Action, Global Climate Change and Biodiversity, and Computer Analysis and Visualisation. These subjects provide both theoretical and practical knowledge in genetics, environmental systems, biotechnology applications, and scientific data analysis. Level 3 focuses on advanced molecular science topics such as molecular biology, structural and functional biochemistry, omics technologies, cellular biochemistry, genomics, and evolution and development. The course emphasizes laboratory, analytical, computational, and research skills, preparing graduates for careers in biotechnology, genetics, agriculture, environmental science, healthcare, and scientific research, while also providing strong preparation for postgraduate study in specialized biotechnology fields.
