COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Science and Management course structure is designed to provide students with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in environmental systems, economics, and scientific analysis, progressing from introductory concepts to advanced environmental management practices. At Level 1, students complete core units such as Plant and Animal Biology, Environmental Economics 1, Environmental Science and Technology, Science, Society and Data Analysis, and Communicating Science, which introduce key principles of environmental systems, sustainability, and scientific communication. Bridging units in chemistry, mathematics, and analytical methods are available for students who require additional preparation for higher-level study. At Level 2, the program builds specialised knowledge through units including Environmental Economics 2, The Climate System, Soil Science, Hydrology and Water Resource Management, Geographic Information Systems, and Quantitative Methods in Environmental Management, developing strong skills in environmental analysis, modelling, and spatial technologies. Level 3 focuses on advanced applications in environmental science and policy, with units such as Business and the Environment, Land Capability Assessment, Land Rehabilitation, Environmental Assessment, Environmental Dynamics, Advanced GIS and Remote Sensing, and Environmental Policy and Planning. The course integrates scientific, economic, and regulatory perspectives to address real-world environmental challenges. Graduates are well prepared for careers in environmental consultancy, government agencies, natural resource management, conservation, and sustainability-focused industries.
