COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Management course is structured across three progressive levels, combining environmental science, economics, policy, and spatial analysis to prepare students for managing complex environmental challenges. In Level 1, students complete core introductory units including ECON1120 Environmental Economics 1 (6 points), which introduces the relationship between economic systems and environmental issues, ENVT1104 Environmental Science and Technology (6 points), which explores key environmental processes and technologies, SCIE1104 Science, Society and Data Analysis (6 points), which builds scientific literacy and data interpretation skills, and SCOM1101 Communicating Science (6 points), which develops effective communication of scientific ideas. Students may also complete bridging units such as MATH1720 Mathematics Fundamentals (6 points) and SCIE1500 Analytical Methods for Scientists (6 points), depending on prior academic background. In Level 2, core study includes ECON2224 Environmental Economics 2 (6 points), ENVT2221 Global Climate Change and Biodiversity (6 points), GEOG2201 Geographic Information Systems (6 points), and SCIE2267 Quantitative Methods in Environmental Management (6 points), focusing on advanced analysis of environmental systems and data. In Level 3, students undertake ECON3323 Business and the Environment (6 points), ENVT3362 Environmental Dynamics (6 points), GEOG3301 Advanced GIS and Remote Sensing (6 points), and GEOG3303 Environmental Policy and Planning (6 points), which develop advanced skills in policy analysis, environmental modelling, and spatial technologies for sustainable decision-making.
