COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cybersecurity major is structured across three levels to develop strong technical, analytical, and professional skills for protecting digital systems and data. At Level 1, students complete foundational units including Introduction to Cybersecurity, Computational Thinking with Python, and Ethics for the Digital Age, which introduce core concepts of programming, security principles, and ethical responsibilities in computing. A mathematics bridging unit may also be required for students who need additional preparation. At Level 2, the focus shifts to core technical knowledge through Systems Programming and Defensive Cybersecurity, where students learn how operating systems function and how to identify, prevent, and respond to cyber threats using practical security methods. At Level 3, students undertake advanced study in areas such as Computer Networks, Penetration Testing, Secure Coding, Professional Computing, and Agile Web Development. These units provide hands-on experience in network security, ethical hacking, software protection, teamwork, and industry-style project development. Throughout the course, students gain both theoretical understanding and practical experience, enabling them to assess risks, design secure systems, and implement effective cybersecurity solutions. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for careers in cybersecurity, system administration, software development, and other technology-driven roles across a wide range of industries where digital security is essential.
