COURSE CURRICULUM

The Agricultural Science course is structured across three levels to build a strong foundation in biological sciences, environmental systems, and agricultural production, while developing skills in sustainability and food security. In Level 1, students complete core introductory units including AGRI1001 Feeding the World (6 points), which explores global food systems and agricultural challenges, BIOL1131 Plant and Animal Biology (6 points), which covers the fundamentals of living organisms, SCIE1104 Science, Society and Data Analysis (6 points), which develops scientific literacy and data interpretation skills, and SCOM1101 Communicating Science (6 points), which focuses on effective communication of scientific ideas. Depending on prior academic background, students may also complete bridging units such as CHEM1003 Introductory Chemistry (6 points), MATH1720 Mathematics Fundamentals (6 points), and SCIE1500 Analytical Methods for Scientists (6 points) if required. In Level 2, core study includes AGRI2201 Pasture and Livestock Systems (6 points), ENVT2236 Soil Science (6 points), GENE2250 Principles of Inheritance (6 points), and PLNT2201 Plants in Action (6 points), which build knowledge of plant, animal, and soil science. In Level 3, students advance to ANIM3306 Clean, Green and Ethical Animal Production (6 points), ECON3300 Agricultural Economics and Marketing (6 points), ENVT3060 Soil–Plant Interactions (6 points), and SCIE3314 Crops and Cropping Systems (6 points), preparing graduates for careers in agriculture, agribusiness, and sustainable food production systems.
