COURSE CURRICULUM

The Agricultural Science and Agricultural Technology course structure is designed to build strong scientific knowledge and practical skills for modern, sustainable food production systems. At Level 1, students complete core foundational units such as Feeding the World, Plant and Animal Biology, Science, Society and Data Analysis, and Communicating Science, which introduce key concepts in agriculture, biology, and scientific communication. Bridging units in chemistry, mathematics, and analytical methods are available for students who require additional preparation, ensuring they meet the requirements for advanced study. At Level 2, students develop more specialised knowledge through units including Pasture and Livestock Systems, Soil Science, Principles of Inheritance, Geographic Information Systems, Plants in Action, and Science Work Placement. These units combine biological, environmental, and technological perspectives while also providing real-world industry exposure. Level 3 focuses on advanced agricultural science and data-driven decision-making through units such as Decisions from Data in Agriculture, Clean, Green and Ethical Animal Production, Agricultural Economics and Marketing, Soil–Plant Interactions, Advanced GIS and Remote Sensing, and Crops and Cropping Systems. The course integrates traditional agricultural science with modern digital agriculture technologies, enabling students to apply data analysis, remote sensing, and economic principles to improve farming efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. Graduates are prepared for careers in agriculture, agribusiness, environmental management, and agricultural technology innovation.
