COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance major within the The University of Western Australia Bachelor of Commerce is designed to provide students with strong knowledge of financial management, investment analysis, corporate finance, and global financial markets. In Level 1, students build foundational business and finance skills through core units such as Financial Accounting and Introduction to Finance, developing an understanding of financial reporting, business operations, and basic financial decision-making. At Level 2, students advance their knowledge through Corporate Financial Policy while selecting specialized units including Derivative Products and Markets, Quantitative Methods for Finance, Business Analysis and Valuation, and Financial Planning, which enhance analytical and practical financial skills. In Level 3, students study Investment Analysis as a core subject and further specialize through advanced electives such as International Finance, Banking Theory and Practice, Derivative Strategies and Pricing, Trading in Securities Markets, and Applied Financial Management. The program combines theoretical concepts with practical applications, preparing students to understand financial markets, manage investments, evaluate corporate financial decisions, and respond to global economic challenges. Graduates develop strong analytical, quantitative, and strategic thinking skills that prepare them for careers in banking, investment management, corporate finance, financial consulting, and international business sectors worldwide.
