COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Law course is structured across three levels, progressively building knowledge and skills in accounting, legal principles, and commercial regulation. In Level 1, students complete core foundation units including ACCT1101 Financial Accounting (6 points), which introduces basic accounting concepts and financial reporting, and LAWS1104 Introduction to Law (6 points), which provides an overview of legal systems, legal reasoning, and fundamental legal principles. In Level 2, students advance to more specialised subjects with LAWS2201 Legal Framework of Business (6 points), focusing on how law governs business activity, LAWS2207 Commercial Law (6 points), which covers legal rules relating to trade and contracts, and LAWS2301 Company Law (6 points), examining the formation, management, and regulation of companies. Level 3 further develops professional expertise through LAWS3222 Taxation Law (6 points), which explores taxation principles and compliance, and LAWS3308 Business Law in Practice (6 points), which applies legal knowledge to real-world business scenarios. Students also choose one elective worth 6 points, such as LAWS3214 International Law and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (6 points), focusing on global legal frameworks and sustainability, or LAWS3328 International Commercial Law (6 points), which examines cross-border trade and international business transactions. This structure ensures a strong progression from foundational knowledge to advanced legal application in business contexts.
