COURSE CURRICULUM

The Anatomy and Human Biology course is structured across three levels to develop a detailed understanding of human structure, function, development, and evolution, while also building strong scientific communication and analytical skills. In Level 1, students complete core foundational units including ANHB1101 Human Biology I: Becoming Human (6 points), which introduces basic concepts of human biology and evolution, ANHB1102 Human Biology II: Being Human (6 points), which explores human physiology and systems, and SCOM1101 Communicating Science (6 points), which develops essential science communication skills. Students who do not meet mathematics prerequisites may also complete bridging units such as MATH1720 Mathematics Fundamentals (6 points), MATH1721 Mathematics Foundations: Methods (6 points), or SCIE1500 Analytical Methods for Scientists (6 points). In Level 2, students choose 18 points from units including ANHB2212 Human Structure and Development (6 points), ANHB2214 Human Organs and Systems (6 points), ANHB2215 Biological Anthropology: Human Adaptation and Variation (6 points), and ANHB2216 Human Reproductive Biology (6 points), which deepen understanding of anatomy and human biology. In Level 3, students undertake advanced study through units such as ANHB3315 Human Evolutionary Ecology (6 points), ANHB3316 Human Reproduction (6 points), ANHB3321 Biological Anthropology: Genes and Society (6 points), ANHB3322 Human/Primate Social Organisation (6 points), ANHB3323 Cells, Tissues and Development (6 points), ANHB3330 Human Structure and Function – Head and Neck (6 points), and ANHB3331 Human Structure and Function – Limbs (6 points), along with research-focused application units ANHB3310 and ANHB3320.
