COURSE CURRICULUM

The Employment Relations course is structured across three levels to provide students with a strong understanding of workplace dynamics, labour systems, and the social, legal, and global factors that influence employment. In Level 1, students complete foundational core units including EMPL1101 Employment Relations, Work and Society (6 points), which introduces the relationship between work, organisations, and society, and EMPL1206 Social Psychology of Work (6 points), which explores human behaviour and interactions in workplace settings. In Level 2, students study EMPL2202 Australian Employment Relations (6 points), focusing on the structure and operation of employment systems in Australia, and EMPL2309 Work and the Law (6 points), which examines legal frameworks governing employment rights and responsibilities. In Level 3, students undertake advanced core units including EMPL3208 Managing Diversity (6 points), which addresses inclusion and equality in the workplace, EMPL3241 International Employment Relations (6 points), which compares employment systems across countries, EMPL3270 Negotiation: Theory and Practice (6 points), which develops practical skills in conflict resolution and bargaining, and EMPL3301 Globalisation and Work (6 points), which explores how global economic changes impact employment structures. This structured program equips students with analytical, legal, and interpersonal skills, preparing them for careers in human resources, industrial relations, policy development, and organisational management.
