COURSE CURRICULUM

The Political Science and International Relations course structure is designed to develop students’ understanding of political systems, public policy, global affairs, and international cooperation through progressive levels of study. At Level 1, students build foundational knowledge by studying subjects such as Understanding Politics and Policy, Understanding Global Politics, and The International Politics of Climate Change. These units introduce key political concepts, governance structures, international relations, and the impact of global challenges on societies and governments. At Level 2, students expand their understanding through specialized units in foreign policy, comparative politics, public policy, and global political economy, allowing them to examine how governments make decisions, how political systems differ across countries, and how economic and political forces interact internationally. Level 3 offers advanced study options focusing on contemporary political and international issues, including human rights, gender politics, mass media, global environmental politics, social movements, democracy and authoritarianism in Asia, international relations in Africa, South Asia, China, and the Middle East, as well as Islam and world politics. Students may also gain practical experience through parliamentary research, policy and diplomacy practice, or work-integrated internships. Throughout the course, students develop strong analytical, communication, research, and critical thinking skills, preparing them for careers in government, diplomacy, public policy, journalism, international organizations, advocacy, research, and political consultancy.
