COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Screen Arts and Production at UTS requires students to complete a total of 96 credit points designed to build both foundational knowledge and advanced practical expertise in screen production. The program is structured around four core subjects, which account for 48 credit points and provide essential training in key areas of screen arts, including production principles, creative development, technical skills, and industry practice. In addition to the core subjects, students complete eight elective subjects that contribute 24 credit points, allowing them to explore specialised areas of interest within screen production such as directing, cinematography, editing, sound design, and media arts. An additional 24 credit points are allocated to elective extension subjects, which further enhance students’ expertise and enable deeper engagement with advanced or specialised aspects of the screen industry. This flexible structure allows students to tailor their learning experience according to their individual creative goals and career aspirations while maintaining a strong foundation in core production skills. Full-time students typically undertake 24 credit points per session, enabling timely progression through the course, while part-time students complete 12 credit points per session to accommodate professional or personal commitments. Overall, this structured yet flexible curriculum ensures graduates develop a strong balance of theoretical understanding, technical proficiency, and creative capability, preparing them for professional careers in the dynamic global screen and media industry.
