COURSE CURRICULUM
The Master of Human Resource Management at UTS provides students with a comprehensive understanding of human resource management in complex and dynamic workplace environments. The program is designed to develop both conceptual and practical knowledge, preparing students to make informed management decisions while ensuring strong business literacy and providing career guidance. Core subjects form the foundation of the course, covering essential areas such as creative problem solving, managing staff and volunteers, diversity and inclusion, human resource management principles, the future of work, industrial relations, managing change, and leadership and stewardship. Students also explore managing in multicultural contexts, career and portfolio planning, and data-driven insights, giving them the analytical and strategic skills required to succeed in contemporary workplaces. Alongside these core subjects, students can select additional electives, allowing them to specialise in specific areas of human resource management and further enhance their professional practice, specialist knowledge, and capabilities. The course blends academic theory with practical applications, encouraging students to critically analyse HR challenges, design effective solutions, and apply best practices across a variety of organisational contexts. Through case studies, research-informed content, and practical exercises, students develop problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and leadership skills. Graduates of this program are equipped to take on senior roles in human resource management, employment and industrial relations, diversity and inclusion, and change management. They will be able to influence organisational strategy, lead people effectively, and contribute to the creation of inclusive, high-performing workplaces. The combination of foundational knowledge, specialised electives, and applied learning experiences ensures that students not only deepen their expertise in human resource management but also broaden their perspectives, preparing them to respond to the evolving challenges of the modern workforce and to make a meaningful impact in organisations both nationally and internationally.
