COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Event Management (Extension) provides a comprehensive understanding of the advanced knowledge and skills required to excel in the specialised field of event management. Throughout the course, you will explore both the strategic and operational aspects of delivering successful events, gaining insight into the high-level management competencies needed to plan, develop and oversee complex organisations that operate within the public, corporate and not-for-profit event sectors. The curriculum places strong emphasis on real-world application, allowing you to engage with authentic industry challenges and opportunities through two innovative capstone options: the Industry Research Project or the Internship Experience. These capstone subjects enable you to either conduct in-depth research on contemporary industry issues or gain direct professional experience within an event-focused organisation. A wide range of elective subjects also gives you the opportunity to tailor your learning to suit your personal interests and career goals, whether that involves deepening your expertise in event logistics, marketing, revenue generation or social impact. Core subjects introduce you to essential areas such as creative problem solving, managing staff and volunteers, legal and regulatory considerations, and the role of business and social impact in shaping modern event practices. You will also study event creation, event marketing, fundraising and the broader context of sports, events and globalisation, allowing you to understand how different event types operate in both local and international environments.
