COURSE CURRICULUM

This course requires students to complete 144 credit points across 24 subjects, consisting of 20 core subjects and four electives, ensuring a strong and comprehensive foundation in both sport science and sport management. The curriculum integrates biophysical, psychological, sociocultural and managerial perspectives to prepare students for a wide range of careers in the sport and exercise industry. Scientific knowledge is developed through core subjects such as Structural Anatomy, Functional Anatomy, Biomechanics of Human Motion, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Prescription, Nutrition for Health and Physical Activity and Sport and Exercise Psychology, which together build a clear understanding of how the human body functions in physical activity and sporting contexts. Analytical and research skills are strengthened through Data Management in Sport and Exercise and Research Methods for Sport and Exercise, allowing students to engage with evidence-based decision making and sport-related data analysis. The degree also includes essential sport management units that explore how sport operates at local, national and global levels. Subjects such as Sport and Society and the Australian Sport System help students understand sociocultural influences and policy structures that shape the industry. Management and business knowledge is built through People and Organisations, Accounting and Accountability, Marketing and Customer Value and Managing Legal Issues, equipping students with the ability to work confidently within organisations, understand financial processes and navigate legal responsibilities. Practical and industry-relevant learning is emphasised through subjects like Sport Marketing and Media, Event Management and Managing Professional Sport, where students gain hands-on experience in marketing campaigns, event coordination and organisational operations. A key feature of the program is the Sport and Exercise Internship, which provides real-world exposure and professional development in a sport, community or organisational workplace. Through this blend of scientific, managerial and practical subjects, the course prepares graduates for diverse roles across sport administration, event management, marketing, community sport development, organisational leadership and broader sport and health sectors.
