COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science combined with the Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment requires the completion of 192 credit points, including 96 credit points in Science and 96 credit points in Sustainability and Environment. The Science component provides a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and methods, preparing students to understand, analyse, and address complex environmental and societal challenges through evidence-based approaches. The Sustainability and Environment component consists of six core subjects totalling 42 credit points and 54 credit points of flexible electives. Core subjects include Understanding Sustainability, The Carbonisation of Society, Sustainability and Social Justice in the City, Planetary Decarbonisation, Monitoring and Evaluating for Sustainability, and Internships in Sustainability and Environment. The elective stream allows students to tailor their studies across areas such as governance and policy, society and culture, engineering, and science and environment, providing a broad and interdisciplinary learning experience. This flexible structure also supports opportunities for global study exchange, enhancing international exposure and learning. Graduation with a Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment is only available as part of a combined degree, although students may apply for an internal course transfer to graduate with a Bachelor of Science if they meet the required conditions. Overall, the program develops scientific understanding, sustainability knowledge, and applied skills needed to work across environmental science, policy, research, and sustainability-focused careers.
