COURSE CURRICULUM
This course is designed to provide students with advanced and comprehensive knowledge in the scientific discipline of psychology, preparing them to contribute to the growing demand for a skilled mental health workforce and to take on roles shaped by emerging societal and technological changes. Throughout the program, students develop a wide range of transferable skills that position them for future careers involving human-machine interaction, ageing populations, behavioural insights, data analysis, leadership, people management and neuroscience. The curriculum is structured to build both depth and breadth in psychological science, beginning with core foundations in subjects such as Introduction to Psychology A and B, Developmental Psychology, Perception and Cognition, Social Psychology and Brain and Behaviour. Students also gain strong research competencies through subjects like Research Methods in Psychology, Research Design and Statistics in Psychology and Advanced Research Methods and Data Analysis, which together equip them to analyse complex data, design studies and apply scientific principles to real-world problems. The course integrates mental health and wellbeing topics through subjects including Mental Health Conditions and Psychological Wellbeing, Health Psychology and Applied Psychological Assessment and Intervention, providing insight into clinical, health and community contexts. Specialised units such as Positive Psychology, Forensic Psychology and Individual Differences and Psychological Assessment allow students to explore specific areas of interest, while Psychology Career Readiness supports the development of a professional pathway. A key feature of the program is the Indigenous graduate attribute, woven throughout all subjects to ensure cultural responsiveness and prepare students to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The honours component strengthens students’ expertise through the Psychology Honours Research Project A and B, enabling them to undertake an independent, supervised research project and explore advanced topics that align with their academic and professional goals. Professional and Ethical Practice in Psychology further enhances readiness for postgraduate study or employment, ensuring graduates are well equipped to apply psychological knowledge responsibly and effectively in diverse settings.
