COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Nursing at UTS is designed to prepare students for the rewarding and demanding role of a Registered Nurse by combining a strong theoretical foundation with extensive practical experience. Throughout the program, students study key nursing subjects such as Anatomy, Pharmacology, and Patient Care, while also developing essential skills in critical thinking, communication, and advocacy to ensure they can deliver high-quality healthcare in diverse environments. The course emphasises compassionate, ethical practice, encouraging students to approach patient care with empathy, professionalism, and cultural awareness. Clinical learning is a central component of the degree, beginning in the first session of the first year and continuing in every session thereafter, giving students early exposure to real healthcare settings. These placements are complemented by simulation-based learning opportunities that help build confidence and competence before entering clinical environments. The program is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council and approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, ensuring it meets national standards and qualifies graduates to register as Registered Nurses in Australia. Students complete the program over three years of full-time study or an equivalent part-time structure, gaining a comprehensive mix of academic knowledge and hands-on skills. In the final year, they have the opportunity to select a specialty elective such as paediatrics, mental health, perioperative nursing, or critical care, allowing them to tailor their education to specific career interests.
