COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Molecular Biotechnology/Bachelor of Business comprises a total of 192 credit points, with an equal distribution of 96 credit points in Molecular Biotechnology and 96 credit points in Business, providing an integrated education in both scientific and commercial disciplines. The Molecular Biotechnology component focuses on core areas of biological sciences, including cellular and molecular processes, genetic engineering, and the application of biotechnology in fields such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines, food production, and industrial bio-based products. This scientific training develops strong laboratory, analytical, and research skills essential for innovation in the biotechnology sector. The Business component complements this by providing foundational knowledge in management, finance, marketing, and organisational studies, along with opportunities to specialise in business disciplines relevant to science-based industries. Students are required to complete both components in full before graduating, as the combined degree does not allow early completion of a single stream. If a student wishes to graduate with only one qualification, they must transfer into the corresponding single degree program—either Molecular Biotechnology or Business—and meet all standalone requirements. This structure ensures that graduates develop a balanced skill set that integrates scientific expertise with business acumen, preparing them for careers in biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical industries, research organisations, and science-driven enterprises where both technical and commercial understanding are highly valued.
