COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sustainability and Social Impact major within the UTS Bachelor of Management equips students with the knowledge and skills to create meaningful change in business and society. Students complete a series of core management units that build foundational capabilities in leadership, innovation, marketing, legal considerations, and understanding organisational and socio-political contexts. These units develop essential skills in decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic thinking, forming the backbone of effective management practice. Within the major, students focus on sustainable business practices, learning how to lead initiatives that deliver positive outcomes for people, communities, and the environment while maintaining economic viability. Coursework emphasizes practical application, including project-based learning and the capstone unit, Managing for Social Impact, which challenges students to integrate their learning and devise strategies to address real-world social and environmental challenges. The program also allows students to broaden their expertise through a secondary major, sub-majors, or elective subjects from other UTS faculties, giving them the flexibility to tailor their degree in line with career goals and personal interests. Graduates of this major are prepared to take on roles that require a strong understanding of sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical business practices. They develop the ability to influence organisational decision-making, lead change initiatives, and design projects that balance social, environmental, and economic considerations.
