COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology combined with the Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment requires the successful completion of 192 credit points, comprising 96 credit points in Information Technology and 96 credit points in Sustainability and Environment. The Information Technology component includes 48 credit points of core subjects covering communication for IT professionals, professional practice, web systems, business requirements modelling, networking, database fundamentals, and project management, along with a 48-credit-point major that enables students to develop specialised technical expertise. The Sustainability and Environment component provides a comprehensive understanding of environmental, social, and economic sustainability through core subjects such as Understanding Sustainability, The Carbonisation of Society, Sustainability and Social Justice in the City, Planetary Decarbonisation, Monitoring and Evaluating for Sustainability, Internships in Sustainability and Environment, and The Biosphere. Students also complete elective subjects across Science, Governance and Policy, Society and Culture, Engineering, and Science and Environment, allowing them to tailor their learning while supporting opportunities for global study exchange. Throughout the program, students combine theoretical knowledge with practical learning through industry projects, internships, collaborative assignments, and real-world problem-solving activities. This balanced curriculum develops technical, analytical, communication, and leadership skills, preparing graduates to design innovative IT solutions that address sustainability challenges and contribute to environmentally responsible and technologically advanced organisations across a wide range of industries.
