COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering combined with the Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment at UTS is a 246-credit-point double degree designed to integrate technical engineering expertise with a strong foundation in sustainability principles. The engineering component comprises 162 credit points, including 42 credit points of core engineering subjects that build essential knowledge in mathematics, physics, systems thinking, and engineering fundamentals. Students also complete 114 credit points in a chosen engineering major (field of practice), allowing them to specialise in areas such as civil, mechanical, electrical, or related disciplines, along with 6 credit points of professional engineering practice that develops workplace readiness and professional skills. The sustainability and environment component accounts for 84 credit points and includes 42 credit points of core subjects that introduce key concepts in environmental science, sustainability frameworks, and socio-environmental systems. The remaining 42 credit points are stream choice subjects, enabling students to tailor their studies to specific interests within sustainability and environmental practice. This structured combination ensures students gain both deep technical engineering knowledge and a broad understanding of environmental and social impacts. Through this integrated curriculum, graduates are prepared to address complex global challenges, design sustainable solutions, and contribute to industries focused on infrastructure, environmental management, and sustainable development, with strong professional and interdisciplinary capabilities.
