COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Medical Science is a 246-credit-point double degree designed to integrate advanced engineering education with comprehensive medical science training, preparing graduates to address complex challenges in healthcare, biomedical innovation, and global health systems. The Engineering component comprises 168 credit points, including 48 credit points of engineering core subjects that provide a strong foundation in engineering principles, mathematics, design, and problem-solving. Students also complete a 114-credit-point engineering major selected at admission, with the option to change majors later or continue in a flexible pathway depending on academic progression and career interests. The program includes a Professional Engineering Practice stream, featuring at least 12 weeks of industry experience, enabling students to apply engineering knowledge in real-world professional environments and develop industry-relevant skills. The Medical Science component accounts for 78 credit points and consists of a dedicated Medical Science major that builds expertise in human biology, disease processes, diagnostics, and biomedical applications. This interdisciplinary structure allows students to gain both technical engineering capability and in-depth scientific understanding of medical systems. The program emphasises practical, laboratory-based learning alongside theoretical study, using modern equipment and industry-standard technologies. Graduates develop strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, preparing them for careers in biomedical engineering, healthcare innovation, medical research, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and related fields where engineering and medical science intersect.
