COURSE CURRICULUM
The UTS Bachelor of Economics is designed to develop students into skilled analysts and systemic thinkers capable of navigating complex economic and business environments. Throughout the program, students build a strong foundation in economic theory and quantitative methods, covering subjects such as econometrics, behavioural economics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and policy evaluation. Alongside these core economic skills, the degree integrates essential business capabilities including strategic decision-making, quantitative analysis, and evidence-based problem solving, preparing graduates to make informed decisions in real-world contexts. A key focus of the program is on social responsibility and ethical leadership, encouraging students to understand the broader societal impacts of economic policies and business strategies. Students explore the intersections of economics and social justice, examining issues of equity, equality, and sustainable development, and learning how to apply economic principles to promote positive change. The curriculum emphasizes practical applications through case studies, data analysis, and research projects, culminating in a capstone project in economic policy and analysis. This approach ensures that graduates not only master theoretical concepts but also gain the skills needed to analyse complex data, evaluate policies, and contribute meaningfully to organisations, government, or research institutions. With a combination of technical expertise, ethical understanding, and strategic thinking, students are well-prepared for careers in finance, consulting, public policy, international development, and other fields where economics and social impact intersect. By the end of the program, graduates are equipped to tackle challenging economic problems, make sustainable and socially conscious decisions, and thrive as leaders who can influence positive outcomes in both business and society. This holistic approach ensures that UTS economics graduates are ready to meet the demands of a rapidly changing global economy.
