COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication and Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation at UTS is a 240-credit-point double degree that integrates professional design education with transdisciplinary innovation studies. The program consists of 144 credit points in Visual Communication and 96 credit points in Creative Intelligence and Innovation. The Visual Communication component builds a strong foundation in design practice, visual culture, typography, interaction design, image-making, and digital media, enabling students to develop advanced creative and technical skills through studio-based learning and real-world projects. The Creative Intelligence and Innovation component is delivered in an accelerated format through intensive July and Summer sessions across the first three years, followed by a full year of study after completion of the professional degree. It is not offered as a standalone qualification and must be completed in combination with the design degree. This component develops interdisciplinary capabilities in creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, collaboration, complexity management, and future-focused problem-solving through project-based learning and engagement with real-world challenges. Together, the two components create a balanced and flexible learning experience that combines technical design expertise with high-level creative and strategic thinking. Graduates are well prepared for dynamic careers in visual communication, digital media, branding, user experience design, and other emerging fields within the global creative and innovation industries.
